O que vai precisar
- O seu telefone iPhone ou Android
- Google Maps or Apple Maps (both are free)
- An internet connection
Passo 1: Open the Maps App
- No iPhone: Open Apple Maps (or Google Maps if you have it installed)
- No Android: Open Google Maps (pre-installed on most phones)
Passo 2: Enter Your Destination
Tap the search box at the top and type where you want to go. For example:
- “Central Station”
- “City Hospital”
- “123 Main Street”
Tap the correct result from the suggestions.
Passo 3: Selecione Public Transport
After entering your destination, you will see options at the top of the screen:
- Car icon — driving directions
- Person icon — walking
- Train/bus icon — public transport
- Bicycle icon — cycling
Tap the train or bus icon to see public transport options.
Passo 4: Escolha a Route
The app will show you several route options. For each route, you will see:
- Total travel time
- Which buses, trains, or metros to take
- How many transfers (changes)
- Walking distance to and from stops
- Departure times (often live)
Tap the route that works best for you.
Passo 5: Follow the Directions
Tap Start or Go to begin navigation.
The app will guide you step by step:
- Walk to the bus stop or station
- Board the correct bus or train (the app shows the line number and direction)
- Get off at the right stop (the app will alert you)
- Transfer if needed
- Walk to your final destination
Keep your phone in your hand or pocket. It will vibrate or notify you when it is time to get off.

Does this show real-time bus and train times?
In most cities, yes. Google Maps and Apple Maps show live departure times for buses, trains, and metros. In smaller towns, they may only show scheduled times.
Do I need internet for this?
You need internet to search for routes. Once you have the directions on screen, you can follow them even if you lose signal briefly, but live updates require a connection.
Can I see how much the ticket costs?
Google Maps shows fare estimates in many cities. Apple Maps is adding this feature in more cities too.
What if I miss my stop?
The app will recalculate your route and show you how to get back on track. Keep the app open during your journey for live tracking.
